Patient Participation Group

Our Patient Participation Group

What is a Patient Participation Group

  • A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of patients who work together with their healthcare providers to improve the delivery of healthcare services.
  • PPGs are typically made up of patients who are registered with a specific healthcare provider, such as a general practice or a hospital. The group works to represent the views and interests of patients, and to provide feedback and suggestions to healthcare providers on how to improve the delivery of healthcare services.
  • PPGs may be involved in a range of activities, including providing feedback on the quality of care provided, helping to develop patient information materials, and working with healthcare providers to develop new services or initiatives.
  • PPGs are an important tool for promoting patient engagement and involvement in healthcare services.
  • They help to ensure that patients have a voice in the delivery of healthcare services, and that healthcare providers are able to respond to the needs and preferences of their patients.
  • PPGs can also help to improve the quality of care provided, by providing feedback and suggestions on how to improve the delivery of healthcare services.

What are our aims?

  • To offer opinions in a constructive manner and to put forward ideas on behalf of other patients.
  • To improve the provision of health care.
  • To improve communication between surgery, patients and the wider community about matters concerning the surgery and health in general.
  • To provide assistance in development of new services.
  • To encourage a spirit of self help and support amongst patients to improve their health and social care.
